Is a raid 0 set any less reliable than a single drive setup? I guess what I am asking is am I taking on additional risk using 2 drives and a controller, adding all that complexity and additional parts that can fail, over using a one drive setup? Is the raid process actually seamless and reliable?
Thanks.

If your system is working well it should work fine just be sure to use same size drives and follow the instructions properly, performance will be good.

If you lose one drive - all your data is gone.

Because in raid0 if one drive fails, the other one is useless it's a little less reliable than single drive but it's not noticable for normal use. The controller is almost the same as a normal hd controller so that won't be a problem either.
Hope this helps,
