There was a thread asking which is the best firewall.
This thread shall concern about whether a linux-based or BSD-based firewall performs better than any other Win32-based firewall.
Any experience? Or anyone had tried it before?[

I've tried dozens of firewalls on both Winxxxx and Linux and find it hard to judge the performance based on the platform. It is more a question of what you want to do with the firewall and how easy it is to configure it the way you like it. I can say that I've tried Norton, Sybergen/Sygate/SyAccess, Blackice, and I've seen ZoneAlarm, but none of these have been anything I'd recommend or use again. Every Linux solution I have liked and would recommend -- ipchains/netfilter/gnat/insert front-end here. However, the Linksys cable/dsl router is just too sweet to even compare the others to. I'm sure D-Link, Netgear, etc have equally sweet products.

Just what I'd expected.
Linux solution seems to be far more superior than any winXXX's.
Heard of Linksys, too expensive for a home user tho'.
Which model are you using and how much did you get it for?
