I hope I'm not making this sound illegal, but I just want to know if I bought a newer version of a software product, and uninstalled the older version off my computer and loaded the newer version, can I legally give the older version away, or am I bound by the license agreement to keep it, even if I'm not using it? Once again this is not posted for reasons to suggest illegal activity. I just want to know.

That depends on if your newer one is an upgrade version or not. If it's an upgrade, you're not allowed to install the old version at the same time as the new version. This would include selling, giving away, etc. If you bought the new full version, you can do anything you want with the old one.

Then by all means, feel free to give the older version away.

good advive howste.

Since you bought the new full version, in essence you own both. Giving away the older version should be your choice.

Another thing to think about is even if you buy only one license, the software can reside in multiple locations as long as it is not done to break license (this is called piracy). For example, if my client buys me an MSOffice license, I may also load this software on my craptop and my home machine. The idea being I can personally only use one copy at a time. If I load on craptop so YOU can use the software (I'm on WS, you on craptop, we basically have prirated the software.
