When I power the machine on it just sits there with the fans running etc.(no video signal) and won't boot up until I hit the reset button. I also can't restart from Win98SE's start menu. If I tell it to 'Restart' it just shuts down and then nothing til I hit the reset button again. I seem to recall when building it that the case fan comes on with the power button but the CPU and board fans don't come on until the reset button is pressed or the power is turned off and on quickly again.

The bios is Award Bios ver 6.00PG and the MOBO is a FIC AD11 PCB1x. (1200mhz)

I checked the power management settings / jumpers but nothing is obvious that I need to enable/disable to clear this up...

thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Sounds like your case button wires aren't plugged in to the motherboard correctly, go back over them with the manual and or keep moving the power button wire til it starts correctly sometimes those pins are not numbered correctly or maybe a wire came off. Red wire should be on correct pin.

Also check the power supply settings. It sounds to me like you are using and ATX motherboard, with an AT power supply. Check you mobo manual and see if the is a jumper to change that, also check you power supply. Had this problem once, and that was the answer. Hope it works.

Hmmm... I wonder if that could be my problem... when I restart nothing shows up on the screen. I have to shut off the computer and turn it on again instead of restarting to get it to start up. I thought most all power supplies now were ATX form factor...
