Via

Now the 266a is out, ideal for the AMD XP.
Nforce is the built in graphics chip on mobos.

I like the Intel chipset but too bad that I have a VIA chipset on my motherboard. :(

shawn in earlier versions of that chipset there was SOME freezing, but they fixed that with the 266a revision. i have a VIA chipset, i never freeze or lock up. and please watch your language. i dont think the mods would like that language.

by the way, nForce isnt integrated graphics, it is acually a motherboard CHIPSET.

Yeah, it may be a chipset, but would you buy a video card from VIA? I have nothing against Nvidia, but I think they should stick to their corner of the market: GPU's. Oh, and the Nforce does have an integrated GeForce 2, so it kind of is integrated graphics.

From what I've read about the nForce chipset, Nvidia has put alot of R&D into it. I think its going to be a good chipset...and as for them sticking to their corner of the market, all they do is design chipsets (up til now they've only designed graphics chipsets, but they don't actually manufacture their own cards like ATI does).

Howdy,

I have used both VIA and SIS. They are both good chipsets in their own corner.

Haven't used any AMD chipsets, although I hear they are pretty good.

Will not fall for the nForce hype right now. Problems have yet to be discovered. Will wait for an 'a' or 'b' version. ;)

Cheers,

Don't know what the problem is with VIA. I have a KT-133A Iwill KK-266+ m/b. It's stable, no incompatibilities, great chipset. If I had $$ to upgrade today, I'd get a KT-266A based board. Via's been making the best Socket A chipsets out there.

I must say I'm really impressed with my new EP 8kha+ with it's KT266+ Chipset, but as said early on the usb has been a bit iffy.
And looking at the benchmarks I've seen so far nvidia don't even come close. But I'm pretty sure nvidia will have have lots of driver development on the go, and you can bet your life they'll be market leaders in no time.

Here's an article that might be of interest to you guys:

Personally I'd stick with KT266A. nForce will be good for OEMs and people who don't need a GE3.
