Last week i was having lots of problems with my net connection. After considerable hours trying to fix it...i went on holiday for a week :D Having arrived back all appears well on my old 33kbps modem..however when trying to hook up the 56k i cant get it to respond (it uses the PSU as its source. When i investigate further the system display panel tells me the Registry cannot find the port ---Errrr -- and then gives me a set of basic information....oh dear..oh dear indeed :(
Any ideas what to do??
Mobo: ABIT Kt7a

Provided you took out the old modem try another slot for the new modem and or go into safe mode and make sure old modem is removed also remove any utilities and leftover folders that came with old modem and also remove it from modems/control panel also remove your old dialup acct in my computer. After this go back into modems/cp after you've loaded new drivers for 56k modem go to diagnostics highlight modem hit more info see if you get AT commands. Also d/l regclean available anywhere and run it, might also remove com ports in device manager and let windows install them back or add them back in "add new hardware" in control panel.
