MIPS debugging

Has anybody used MIPs processor/ If so I am facing some problems with my code. Somewhere, one task's data is getting overwritten by another task. At least I suspect this . I am using the GNU debugger and am not very well acquainted with it. How do I identify the problem? How do I set the memory access breakpoints? Any literature available ("Like Dummies guide to MIPS and GNU Debugger ") ?
