Hi, I'm new here on the site, and yes, I already have a problem. Hopefully you can help me with this.

I am trying to install my Primax Colorado Direct Scanner, and the installation disk is missing. I have downloaded something (exe-file) from the internet, but each time I try to install, the computer tells me that there is no software that "describes the equipment"???

Now you are my last hope.... Anyone????

Hi Muchmark,

It is a Primax Colorado Direct and I've got Windows ME. Is that answering your question? You see, I am a nitwit on the technofield...

Thnx in advance!

There has to be a sticker on the scanner or a manual with the Model Number on it. You need the model to get the right driver.

USB? Is it enabled in bios? It "should" detect, try to0 force it, jhust get a bigger ham, mer. I've in the past installed the driver I downloaded, had the same message, chose to use the "wrtong" driver, but its worked fine ever since.

Are you doing a "detect new hdwr?" or letting boot detect?

Might have better luck to cancel boot detect and install the driver manually, provided it is the correct one for your model. I believe coloradr is low end ""visioneer scanner, is that where you found the driver?
