I'm planning on buying a Iomega Zip 250 IDE drive and has anyone had problems with it? I just want something like a giant floppy drive to save files I download and reliability.

I just want something like a giant floppy drive to save files I download and reliability. Gene C. 10-07-2000, 07:43 PM I got a few of the 100's I use. some of my friends on the island have the 250's and they think they are the greatest since the 1.4's replaced the 720's. I do plan on getting one to load vers. of 98/2000 on customers laptops that don't have a cd-rom drive. NDC 10-07-2000, 11:01 PM We have Zip250 SCSI, IDE, ISB, Parallel port interface drives at my work. I personally use a SCSI Zip250 at home also I found all of them to be very reliable. I've never had a read error after saving to a zip disk, yet. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif We also have ORB 2.2GB SCSI, and they have been the biggest pain in the ****! Not only do they get read-write errors, it takes about 10 seconds for te drive to mount. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif If you are planning to share files with people who don't have zip drives, I would strongly recommend getting USB interface Zip250. Since the Zip250 can be used on any system just by hot-plugging it in the USB port, I think it will be convenient to transport files from other systems that don't have Zip Drives. As for IDE, it's an internal drive, so you won't be able to carry the drive around with convenience. [This message has been edited by NDC (edited 10-07-2000).] SysOpt.com
