I just got a new Gateway laptop that two USB ports and a serial port but no parallel port. I did a search online for a USB printer adaptor cable and this is what I came up with : USB TO IEEE 1284 PARALLEL PRINTER ADAPTER CABLE, USBA/CENT36

Will this work with any printer/scanner?

I'm pretty sure that the printer itself has to be able to support USB. Just putting it on a USB to Parallel isn't going to cut it. But I could be wrong, keep your eye on this post to see more replies.

Printing via the IR port on your laptop may be an option...again if your printer supports this. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/biggrin.gif
