Okay, three computers on a Linksys 5 port switch

1 Ghz T-bird
512 Meg RAM
Geforce 2
D-link 10/100 NIC
WinXP

950 Athlon 4 (That's what the sticker says anyway)
256 Meg RAM
Trident Cyberblade-XP 8meg vid card (yuck)
Accton EN2242 NIC chipset 10/100
WinXp
HP laptop PC

166 Cyrix
32 Meg RAM
Matrox Mystique 4meg vid card
3com Etherlink III 10 Base-T NIC
Win98 w/ XP home networking software setup
Home build ancient POS my parents use for Internet and Quicken

All are in the workgroup WORKGROUP

The Cyrix sees all three computers, the 950 laptop sees the shares on all three, but the 1Ghz sees only it's own shares and those on the 166 Cyrix.

If I want to access the laptop I have to search for it and that takes about 10 seconds using the search tool... not a major problem, but annoying.

All three machineshave TCP/IP installed, no NWLink or IPX/SPX, both XP boxes have use NetBIOS over TCP/IP ion auto (the other two options being use it always or don't use it at all) and the Win98 has NetBEUI installed with the use NetBEUI over TCP/IP checkbox selected under TCP/IP properties. The Win98 machine doesn't seem to be the problem, but why can the laptop see the 1Ghz, but not vice versa?

Any ideas?

In my 3 systems here at home , all running XP , make sure "guest" account is enabled on the XP systems. I spent sometime getting all my boxes to "get along" .

Nope, same effect.. all guest accounts are activated and the 1Ghz still doesn't see the 950's shares (And yes, it does have shares that Everyone can access)

Well... if I point the 1Ghz to the shares manually via the network connection wizard it'll display them, and give the laptop's name and decription with it, but other shares are not seen... while the laptop will see -all- shares on the 1Ghz without prompt, same for the 166 for both laptop and 1 Ghz...
I'm stumped!

Here's another thing...
When I do a search for the laptop on the 1Ghz it shows up TWICE, the only difference that the computer name, in both cases, is listed in parenthesis, but on one the first letter is capitalized, on the other it is not....
Not sure if this means anything or not.

Well.. if I click on 'View computers in workgroup' I can see the laptop from the 1Ghz...

Well.. weird...

I'm guessing there's just no explaining it, so I'll live with it.
