Is a 300watt PS really necessary, if my parts are:
duron 600 o/c between 700-800mhz w/fan heatsink
geforce mx o/c 175 to around 200 w/heatsink
10x4x32 burner not SCSI
32x cdrom
quantum 15 7200 HDD
pc133 128 sdram
regular 1.44 disk drive
mx300 sound card
and a couple of fans too keep things cooled
???
will 250watts do the job?

If you dont have the PSU and are going to buy one,you might as well get the 300.When I bought my case, the price diff was like $18 so I went with the 300.If you have a 250 already I dont think you really, really need the 300
just my 2 Lincolns

i just went to the site.I believe the "200~250"watts depends on the exact model you get. I guess that is one general description about all their mini-mid tower cases.my guess is that it is 250. I am also assuming you are getting a new case, which brings me why dont ya just get a 300 watt? They are not that much more, unless every dollar counts, but then again,Im stoopid with money.

Remember that even a 200 watt power supply can power a lot of stuff. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

I'm not sure if 250 will work amd list some that are approved ,but for the couple extra dollar's it will cost buy an amd approved 300. I have an ultra 300 I had to replace it was always' causing problem's. reloaded windows so many times I memorized the code key. Of course then I found BBA's post on how to fix window's without having to format the **** thing again!(very good reading)(thanx BBA)

True Brandon. I only suggest getting the larger one on a "might as well" basis.when I bought mine, the case with 3-5 1/4 bays and a 250watt PSU was $72 and the one I got has 5-5 1/4bays and a 300watt PSU and cost $90.If he/she wants to save the $$ then the 200-250 should be good enough

A fine suggestion from nunyadam if I say so myself!

where can i find an AMD approved ps?
with the newer AMD line of CPU's i dont recomend using anything lower that a 300 watt supply as they like to hog the power and a 200 watt will not even power it up
