a Bill you said UNREAL runs awesome with 200+ RAM, mine runs pretty well but my question is that I'm usually smacking my friends around (it's not even close) but I constantly get these connection failures. Any tips on the advanced settings, under network/tcp/ip. It has some weird settings that I am not sure of, and any tips on improving my ping.

Sorry I can't help you with modem set up, I am using cable. If it's any consolation, I get my **** whooped pretty badly in Unreal too http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif I wish I could blame it on the connection. Oh well, at least I'm dying in Hi Res with maximum gore and effects http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Make sure you are running the latest patch for Unreal too, the so called "server only" patch is good for us too, it speeds up play a bit. Tim cleaned up the code.

You could try reposting this with a heading pertaining to modem problems in order to get the modem gurus input. Some of those guys/girls know more about modems than I knew there was to know. Most disconnect problems stem from lines noise though. Modems and their problems are a science unto themselves.

Online gaming is a good reason to invest in a 'hard' rather than a 'soft' modem.

Good point, software(Win) modems stink. They're fine for your average AOL user but when you max them out, they don't fair so well.
