Im having this problem with Windows 2000 Professional, sometimes the machine is running very well, and suddendly it slowdowns, some programs crashes and also explorer cannot open addresses, I looked at Windows Task Manager and it has one program called Mstask that its eating 99% of my cpu, that one is killing my machine, also if i try to end this process, a pop up appears telling me that this operation cannot continue, and I cant do nothing, I have to reboot, by the way this machine has a fresh install of Windows 2000.

My machine specs:
Pentium 3 800Mhz
356 MB ram pc 133
15 Gig Maxtor Drive
Asus P3V4X Mainboard
Soundblaster Live Value! with latest drivers (not livewire)
Voodoo 5500

Well anyone has any thoughts of what can be the problem, and way better any solution?

If you look in your systray, is there an icon that is blue and white? If there is, double click on it, then, I believe its under the tools option in the toolbar, click on Stop using Task Manager. Then close this folder.
