Need help installing my dsl router in xp.

I just got xp, n i is a menace to my internet and network. My router's instructions don't work with xp. the router tells me to access winipcfg to start the process, but xp doesn't have that. plz help me, i need to setup my network back to normal. thank you. btw, my router is a d-link di-804.

In XP use ipconfig ...........I'm running a DI-704 ....what's your exact prob ???

ok, um, if i use the xp internet wizard, n since the router leaves dsl always on, i check always on dsl, instead of signing up dsl, but windows xp doesn't do ne thing n it doesn;t work. i know i have to config my router first since that is wut i needed to do when i first got the router. the problem is how do i config my router in xp following the instructions that came with the d-link router, for example, the instructions tell me to run winipcfg, but xp doesn't have that. without configuring my router first, i can't access the internet, but i can network still. nothing is wrong with my physical connections.

Don't use that "wizard" ........ just type 192.168.0.1 in your address bar , that will open up the browser interface to configure your router ...... is your DSL PPoE ?? Set all your computers on the network to "Obtain an IP address automatically" ....... set your router for DHCP. I hope I'm answering your questions ...... keep us informed.
