I was wondering if someone was in the loop concerning future development of QDR SDRAM ( http://sysopt.earthweb.com/articles/qdr-sram/index.html ). Have Micron and others taken special precautions to protect it from the patent infringement attacks of Rambus?

If they haven't and Rambus gets royalties from it, we can expect QDR SDRAM to be expensive. If it is royalty-free, then that is probably the end of Rambus and RDRAM!!!

It's a completely seperate from RDRAM, just like DDR SDRAM is.

Also keep in mind that this is SRAM, not SDRAM. SDRAM was only mentioned specutively at the end of the article... there have been no comments from the manufacturers regarding whether this will be developed, although logic would assume that the design would likely head that direction at some point.

What I'm saying is no, you won't have to worry about Rambus getting their greasy fingers on it.
