Hope someone can help me out here - we want to set up PC as a remote CD burner over a LAN.
We could put Linux on the machine, but there's a debate whether Windows or Linux would be the best option. There are pros and cons to both, but the main problem is that Silicon Graphics machines need to be able to send files to the system with as little human intervention at the system as possible, because it's likely that the machine will be being used.
Obviously, peer-to-peer drive mapping will not be a problem between Windows machines, but the SGI machines will not be able to 'push' files to the burner server without an FTP server installed.
The only other way would be to pull the files off the SGI from the burner server, interrupting the user of that machine and generally being a pain in the azz!
Does anyone know of either a workaround or a free FTP server that will allow files to be pushed from a UNIX machine to a Windoze PC??
