Anyone tell me why when I play a DVD without DMA checked, the video is choppy and unplayable. But when DMA is on, its smooooth. ( I know what DMA is and what it does) But any reason why this happens?
Do I have some other setting affecting this?
PIII 700
Asus geforce DDR (detonator3 6.18 drivers)
256 ram
Asus' dvd soft player
Creative SB live value

I'm going to guess that it can't transfer data fast enough.

True, but any idea whats causing it?...i.e. The DVD player itself? Its a dvdrom that came with my old Gateway.I believe it worked fine in that system.(without DMA)and that was a p2-350 w/ integrated STB velocity 128
