I installed Quake 3 arena a few weeks back and until now i cant figure out whats wrong with it. I play for about 3 secs and the video goes berserk, it goes one frame.... back a frame... one frame.... back a frame and keeps going like that, doesnt stop. the sound keeps going and everything is peachy exept for the video. ive tried playig with opengl and without but still nothing, one thing i can tell you is that i dont have a CD key yet cause i burned a copy from a friend.
my Machine:
P3 800
Nivida Riva TNT2 model64 pro
256 RAM
standard eveything....

How about trying to reinstall the game and remember to copy your save files.

- Try to install the latest drivers available (e.g. on voodoofiles.com). It may help.
- And what windoze mustdie are you using? (Please, don't say "2000" - it is not for games).
- Try another copy of QIIIA.

Then how much of RAM your Riva have?
Is your system overclocked? If so, then in what way?
How about other 3D-games?
Did you try different resolutions, bit depths and another parameters to change?

my riva has 32mb of ram
other games work fine
no.. my system is not overclocked
ive changed many parameters....nothing seems to work... but should i be changing the parameters of opengl in my TNT settings?....or game settings?

Did you try to turn off the OpenGL extentions in QIIIA?
Try to alter the OpenGL settings in your driver's tweak.
And if you have an ability, try to change your graphic card to another and to see, is the card responsible for it, or not?
 Why do you post this message at such time, when QIIIA exists for years? Did you obtain it only now?

I think this could be with a buggy QIIIA. Try to download the latest version of Quake.

If you have an hi-speed connection, then DL either of them.
It is very interesting effect to be solved.

Abnd another question: what cooling devices have your card? (heatsink/fan/heatsink+fan/nothing)? And how effective they are?
