What is your make/model of the soundcard ? Many "old" soundcards out there used Yamaha OPL2/OPL3 chip, which one did you get ?
Best Regards ...

Look in Device manager under Sound, it should list the audio device thats installed or look on the card itself and find the chip with OPL2 or 3 SAx , and a number like YMF701, 715, etc. on it.
Windows has Yamaha drivers. I would just uninstall the card from Device manager, restart and let Windows reinstall it. If it cannot find a driver then have it Show all Hardware , and install the Yamaha OPL3 WDM driver , it should work. If not locate the driver from Yamaha by the chipset ( eg. ,YMF701 , etc.)

or try here http://www.windrivers.com/company/yamaha/index.htm
Check the zip file for a readme file for install instructions. Hope this helps.

You did'nt have onboard sound before did ya?
Can you be more specific about the card and the trouble with the driver?
It just wont install or wont work, no sound?
Do you have the card chipset info?
What were the circumstances which caused the trouble?
Were you upgrading?
What's the model of the mobo?
Try looking at Device Manager while in Safe Mode and see if you have multiple sound devices installed . Also, check that the wrong drivers / software where uninstalled from Add Remove Programs.
