Hi all,

I'm running NT 4.0/SP6 on my systems. After accessing the Internet (doesn't matter if it's dial out or DSL), the "My Computer" icons for the ZIP and JAZ drives in the system are changed. They change into many differnct icons...from the Excel icon to any icon (with MANY different variations) associated with the programs on the computers. This happens on all my computers, so I know it's not single-system related.
This isn't a functional problem...clicking the "alias" icon accessed the removeable drive(s), but it's a nuisance!

Is there a way that I can set the icons so that they will be permanently associated with the ZIP and JAZ?

Has anyone else encountered this problem???

Any help would be GREATLT appreciated...

Tony

Try this....

Go into HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer

Create a new string value, or modify the existing value, called "Max Cached Icons" and set it to "8192". This will increase the icon cache to 8192. Restart Windows for the change to take effect.
