You can get an nVidia GeForce2 MX 32mb for that price.I don't have one,but it seems to be a pretty good card (for this price).

When I had my K6-2 450 I ran a Voodoo 3 3000, and it worked great. They run about $100 these days.

Right now I run a 750 Athlon and a Viper II, and I'm very satisfied with the Viper. It can also be had for about $100, but offers 32-bit color, FSAA, hardware T&L, TV out, hardware DVD support, etc.

The GeForce MX is supposed to be a good one too, so in your indicated price range, I'd look closely at both the MX and the Viper II.

I currently am using a P3-450 with a Geforce2 MX(hercules). Half-life: TFC runs 1024x768 pretty well online, very smooth.

For my AMD k6-2 450 128MBram.

I'd like to keep the price at around 100-120.

I recomend the Voodoo 3 3000 with that setup. It functions well in combo w/ the K6 series.

For 2D the best quality comes from Matrox. If you are a gamer the G-Force is only option, for DVD better buy a decoder, and by all means STAY AWAY FROM ATI.

What the h*ll is wrong with ATi?ATi cards are very good.I know they're a little slow, but that's all. There are very much driverupdates and tweaking programs for them.

My brother has an Asus V6600 Geforce256 with VRglasses that costed $300.Asus is really slow with driverupdates, and only the original, half a year old drivers work with the VRglasses, but only old games can work with those old drivers. He regrets it that he didn't wait a little longer for the ATi Radeon to come out.

ati has the most problematic drivers. It took 3 years for stable drivers for the Rage Fury (and even then they were unsupported). Even products with extra features (video in/out, DVD hardware decoding etc) come with bulded (supported) drivers that do not support these features. You have to agree not to bother them, to download some "beta" drivers that sometimes work, still castrating the features you bought the card in the firs place. All my systems had regretably Ati cards (in the past 5 years and even now all my 4 systems have ati cards). Ati cards are not working well with chipsets for AMD cpu's. No ATI card can run @ AGP 4x (eventhough they advertise it) on a AMD based system. And this is without mentioning any other OS's such as Linux. Just don't start me... lol

As for performance: 2D quality is inferior to any G400 and TNT2 I've seen, although the G-Force has no great 2D quality either it is still better than ATI. as for 3D it's a mediocre performance and for the high end, Radeon is no match for the G-Force (never mind it'll take you 3 years before you make it work).

Good luck.
