I have two external SCSI drives attached to my SCSI card and I can only get Win2k to reconise one of the drives.
For ease of explanation, I will refer to these drives as
A: = 9.1GB Seagate 50 pin and has an ID of 0 (zero)
B: = 9.1GB Western Digital 68pin with 50pin convertor has an ID of 1 (one)
Both drives power on, and the power light goes out after 10 seconds for each.
Drive A is the one that Win2k can see okay.
Scenario one
When drive A is first on the chain and drive B is second on the chain (terminated) Win2k see's drive A but can't see Drive B.
Scenario Two
When drive B is first on the chain and drive A is second on the chain (terminated) Win 2k can't see either of the drives.
Scenario Three
When drive A is first on the chain (terminated) and drive B is removed. Win2k can see the drive okay.
Scenario Four
When drive B is first on the chain (terminated) and drive A is removed. Win2k can't see the drive.
I am sure that I have these drives on different SCSI ID's and I am only using about 2 metre' of cable...
What am I doing wrong ? Any help appreciated.
BTW, this may seem like a silly question to those familiar with SCSI, but can I use IDE jumpers on these or do I need to get special SCSI jumpers ?
Thanks, Im pulling my hair out !
Cheers
