Hello all
I have a strange problem with my internet connection. I have a NT4/sp6a - Win98sp1 machine. When I download with NT, i can maintain the connection for hours, but as soon as the download stops, it will disconnect me within about 2 or 3 minutes, basically, it seems to disconnect whenever there isn't a steady stream of incoming/outgoing data. This doesn't occur with win98 with the same hardware: modem is USR 56k data/fax INT ISA.
I know someone who is having the same problem with win98 though. Someone suggested a keep alive program, but im just curious as to why this could be happening, i know there is a "disconnect when idle" option but i dont think the problem has to do with that, especially since i've seen the problem occur on win98 where that option has been disabled. It's not a big problem, it just keeps me from browsing with NT4 because of disconnects. I am employed by the ISP I use and they don't seem to have any clues, hopefully some members of the forum do though.
thanx for any suggestions in advance
