Tips On Making Cardboard Cases

I just gotten a pile of **** from a friend, and he wants me to stick it in a cardborad box because he's too cheap too buy a Real Case.

any Suggestions?

So he gave you everything (even a powersupply).Do you know what an empty case costs (with/O powersupply)?You can get one for 10 bucks.He just has to look for it.I mean what is an empty case worth?I have 3 empty minitowers I've used in all those years.The powersupplies were taken out when one broke down in another case.There's lotsa cases like that all over the world.

I have been searching for a case lately (not a cheapy), so I feel your pain. It seems there are very few place to buy cases, low or high quality. I could post some links but the lowest price was like $60-70.

I talked him into buying a real case but he wants a very very cheap one and doesent care bout sharp edges (he will sand em out).


It will take him hours to sand all of the edges. If he keeps bugging, you tell him to build it himself.

btw, if you do this, you basically have agreed to a lifetime of customer support, since you are the vendor....

Have you looked at Ebay...you can pick cases up, with power supply, for almost nothing.

at directron.com you can get a case for about $35 w/o power. Probably cheaper, but I didn't really look around much.

Proble with buying one over the web, or even a used one here, is the shipping costs. ;(


If what you need is an AT case, then start hitting yard sales & resale stores.

There's a LOT of older stuff out there, also (like Ronald said) ones that have been robbed of their PS.

Or maybe someone here at Sysopt lives near you? Your profile says Miami, and there HAS to be somebody near there!

Also, you could talk to someone at that BestBuy or CompUSA, they're likely to have a dented case lying around in back.

He got a the hydralic case $50.00 (i Think) at Direction.comI just told him to pick a case and he decideded on that one. no i gotta wait for the case and stick all the **** in it.

Wow, i never thought of using legos. Sounds good, you can make your own color pattern, glue em together, make holes for fans and stuff, seal it with glue, and have a really cool case that will attract people's attention whenever they see it. Can it be done?

****! That be an interesting idea! Making a OC case out of Legos! That I haven't seen done yet. But the high price that Legos are, the cost of buying boxes of Legos to make this case is going to cost more than buying a few PC cases.

If your friend really wants to do this, he'd better invest in a good ABC fire extinguisher, because there is a **** good chance that thing will burn if it touches the wrong thing for too long.

I don't know links to sites that sells empty cases,but you could look for a local computerstore that sells old computer s***. They might have some empty old towers lieing around.

I live in a sorta remote area theres only compusa's and bestbuy's the closest omputer shop i know of went out of busnuiss (there the ones that put a POS mobo in my comp and stole my good one when i asked them to replace the cd-rom They said it was the mobo)

i need a link too someone that sells cases (Mini tower cases) at around $10-$30.
