freakin squeaker

i Have an ata 33 54x cdrom that just howls when i try to use it. Ive tried it on several different computers but it never seems to work, bios detects it fine but i cant use it in windows 98 se or win me and i asume any other version of windows...i dont think its a driver issue because of the squeaking noise it makes...anyone have the same issue?

Any chance you can provide us with some additional information.....like what brand and model it is, was well as some specifics about how long its been used/if it ever worked/etc. ?
