Ok heres my situation, I have a 486 as one of my computers and I took the RAM out of another 486 (Same type, brand.)I installed it (16MB on two 8MB chips), made sure it was secure, and attempted to turn on the computer. Nothing appeared on my screen, and soon after activation the internal speaker started to make a long beep, then a pause, then another beep. This pattern continued and so I shut the machine down. Next I tried removing the RAM I had just installed but the beeping didn't stop. I ruled out the graphics card, as I tried 3 of them. The Hard Disk and CD ROM powered up fine, the processor fan was working. I later tried taking out all the RAM and then reinstalled the two original chips, same results! Whats wrong??? Any Advice

Here's a guide to Beep Codes per the BIOS.

Hopefully this will apply to your 486.
