O.k., a little earlier today my monitor started a nice little flickering thing which is quite annoying. I've tried Degaussing it but that didn't work at all. It's a nice 17" monitor and I would really like to save it rather than buy a new one! Anybody have any suggestions on what might cause this or how to hopefully remedy this??? Please help!

Does it still flicker after a reboot?
Have you recently moved your speakers or anything electrical near the monitor?

Flickering can be caused by out of limits resolution settings and refresh rates. Try different settings.
Video drivers can be corrupted, uninstall the video drivers and reinstall. Its usually necessary to do an uninstall because reloading drivers do not necessarly over write the old ones.
Flickering can also be an indication of power supply problems within the monitor psu. They have a psu much like a computer psu, but built into the monitor mainboard.

The last time I had a problem with a flickering monitor, I opened her up and found that most of the solder joints in back of the actual picture tube had become broken off, and I had to resolder the joints. This fixed my problem, but I doubt it happens often. If you do decide to open up your monitor, then beware, there is something that looks like a suction cup with a wire coming out of it on the top of the picture tube, DO NOT TOUCH IT. That holds an electrical charge of around 25,000 volts, that charge could blow you across the room, or even kill you if you aren't feeling lucky. But, I'd recommend leaving it up to professionals to open it up and look at it, if it even comes to that.

MistralBurn is right. That 25K is from a big capacitor that holds the voltage. It must be discharged first to safely work on the monitor. If it's accidentally shorted the capacitor can blowup like a huge firecracker.
