Recommendation for a sound card

What sound card should I get for my Duron system. It is on a Asus A7V. Sound Blaster Live Value?

I don't need anything fancy, just something with great sound and controls.

sb live value is great, you wont need the x-gamer unless you want the games and you wont need the platinum unless your a musician

It's back - buyer decided for a different card.

I've got a Diamond s90 that I can sell you for $15 shipped. It is based on Aureal's Vortex 1 chip. The control panel app that's included with Aureal's reference drivers is quite good too - even includes a decent equalizer. Might not be as full featured as the SB Live, but this is a much lower price, especially for a card that does 3D audio. LMK if interested - kind of soon though; I've posted this a few places, so there might be a bit of competition for it.

Just as a side note- I upgraded my computer and in the process I went from a Diamond s90 to a SB Live! Value.

Having used both cards- I can say that although the s90 is in NO way a bad card, the extra features and capabilities of the SBLive! make it better IMHO.

To me it was worth the extra $$$- but if you're on a tight budget- the s90 is a great card.

Bad news is that I didn't pick one up the day I was going to....but I got one today!! I just think the card is just awsome! I love the controls. I had to take the Sound Blaster Live! X-Gamer becuause they didn't have the Value. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif Oh well, I like it anyways.

Creative Lab the maker of soundblaster have put every other competition out of business. Did you know that you don't have any option theseday except to get a SB Live. Like Microsoft, Like Intel. It seem like there is no more competition theseday, creative just dominate the sound card industry completely.

i had a similar question a few weeks ago and my final decision was to get the diamond mx300 because it supports A3D and soon to be EAX. sb live only support EAX but creative labs is making EAX 2.0 which is basically like A3D.

your choice, both good cards.
dont get too excited about the bundles that come with the retail boxes of either card.
