I've been meaning to try this one myself. I have a friend who was also a Netscape-only person...but now he's hooked on Opera.

I'm not a netscape person per se, just an anti-IE person

Things to try:
Clear out the cache & restart it.
Quit Netscape, wait about 15 seconds, then do a CTRL+ALT+DEL to see what programs are running. If you still see Netscape in the list then highlight it and choose "end task". Sometimes (rather often for me) Netscape gets hung up in memory like that and just stops responding.
I've finally come to terms with the fact that NS sucks...but I don't care...death before IE!

already cleared cache/history/anything I could find, and nope netscape's not running, though mail has ceased allowing me to delete messages.
by the way if I can't fix it is there another browser? I can't stand IE

Have you tried Mozilla? It's by far the fastest and best overall browser.

Have you looked around in preferences, etc.?
It shouldn't just stop. Have you called your ISP to make sure they haven't done something?
If all of that is no help, try a reinstall.
Also, do a "find" and clear our all of your cookies stashes, (especially the text one labeled "cookies"-there are others).
