Hi friends. I've bought recently a Chaintech GeForce 2 MX 400 64 MB. I would like to know if it it is a good card itself and for my system specs.

My system:

Chipset Intel 440LX
Pentium II 233 Mhz
192 MB RAM
Windows 98 SE
2,3 GB Hard disk (provissional)

I've read that W98 only can manage 128 MB correctly and this can affect the GeForce 2 performance. Is this correct? Can it affect system performance too? Thanks.:) :)

The main problem with the GeForce2 mx 64MB is that it doesn't have the bandwidth to support the memory they are popping onto it. It would be better to save your money and get a 32MB, cause the preformance increase is going to be so little you may not even notice it.

Personally I would get a new CPU instead of a vid card. To really have the vid card work well you need at least a 600Mhz CPU. I'd get something like a 400Mhz p-2 or 450p-3 and something like a Voodoo3 or Radeon LE or something like that. If you have the money I'd just go with a new mobo and an AMD T-Bird. Then you can start worrying about the vid card.
