Need some help on my first attempt at building a system

The mobo is an ECS K7S5A. Processor is an AMD Athlon 950.

I got it running with a new blank HD on IDE1, and booting to drive A:

My plan was that after I got this far, I would move my other HD and CD reader from the old PC into the new one, and put them onto IDE2. I did this, with no changes to the jumpers as they came from the old PC. I.E. HDD is master, CD is slave.

Plugged those boogers into the new box, into IDE 2, rebooted, went into CMOS and tried to have it detect the 2nd disk and cd.

Nothing doing says CMOS, and by the way, I no longer see the HD on IDE1. So I unplugged the cable to IDE2, rebooted and lo and behold HD1 was back in business.

Where did I go wrong.

In addition, I have some questions re the wiring that I did.

I have a total of 6 wires available: from the case. They are all 2 pair twisted thingies.
4 coming from the from the region of the LEDs and 2 from the on/off switch.
From the LEDS they are colored and labeled as:

Yel/Wht .........labeled Green LED-----> I left this unused cause I couldn't figure out where it was to go.
Grn/Wht.........labeled Power LED-----> I plugged into RCP LED on the mobo.(This had a 3 connector plug that I cut in half)
Orange/Wht....labeled HDD LED------> I plugged into HDD LED on the mobo
Blu/Wht..........labeled Reset SW-------> I plugged into RST on the mobo

From the on/off switch they are both the same and labeled as:
Red/Wht........labeled Power Sw-------> I plugged 1 into Power SW on the mobo, the other I didn't use.

I wish I could show you what the pins look like, then it wouldn't be so confusing to explain.

So my questions are:
What about the unused Green LED (Yel/Wht) and Power Sw (Red/Wht), should they go somewhere ?

When I use the on/off switch, the one on the front of the case, not on the power supply, the CPU fan continues to spin.
Is this normal, in that it will spin for a while to cool off the CPU after powering down.

My thinking is that the cables are not connected properly.
What case do you have?
You should have at least a Power Switch wire, a Reset wire, Power-On LED wire, and Hard Drive LED wire.
I don't know what those other wires would be used for especially that second power switch.
The Power switch should turn on/off the computer completely.
When you shut down the PC using Windows does the cpu fan continue to spin?
When you press the reset switch does the computer reboot?
When the computer is on do you have a little Power-on LED light showing on the front of the case? and what about the HDD LED - does it flicker or light up when your Hard Drive is in use?
With your two Hard Drives, and CD-ROM, I would plug both HD's into the primary IDE (the new blank one set to master and the old one set as slave) and then the CD-Rom set as master into the secondary IDE.

I haven't been able to load windows yet, since I can't get the CD working. I booted using a floppy, and formatted C:

When you press the reset switch does the computer reboot ?
I think so, tho I don't recall dojng this specifically.

There are lights on, but I haven't put the face plate back on so I am not sure which ones are lit. I will check.

Since Windows is not loaded, there is not much action to the hard drive. I will try some more stuff to make it active.

I will try putting the 2nd HD on IDE1 and see what happens.

Oh, and the case is a MIN MAW 3713

Thanks
