I want to make some CD-R's, and I want to customize what it says on the CD. How do I place a company logo on it? Do I have to get someone else to do this or what?

Thanks.

Hi Brandon

I haven't used it yet, but check out the CD Stomper Pro CD Labeling System.

The kit comes with software, labels and the Stomper, to design, print and apply CD labels for the CD and the jewel case. There are 1200 pre-designed backgrounds/clipart or you can import your own.

I picked this kit up at Fry's for $19.00 and there's a $10 Rebate too! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif The Rebate offer ends Sept. 30.

Here's their website http://www.labelcd.com/

vfrxsw, has that label peeling happened to you w/this kit?

I live in SoCal and it gets pretty hot, so this would be a concern of mine. I thought that the kit's application process would prevent peeling..? and I sure as heck don't want labels coming off in my car CD player.

I've done quite a few labels for CDs. I don't know who made the labels, but I think they came in a kit from Memorex. I have had several labels that kind of bubble up, usually in a straight line from the inside to the outside edge. I've never had any that just peel off. One trick I've learned to prevent it is to make sure the CD is completely cool before putting the label on. If you put the label on while it's still warm from the burner, it will contract slightly when it cools and cause problems. BTW never try to remove a label once it's on. It can pull the surface off the disk.

I have not had any problem with labels peeling on my own and at work, but we had a very cool summer here in the northeast usa. I work on cars for living and the new car manufactures have issued warnings about the problem of labels peeling. Good fresh labels and totaly clean cd's help avoid peeling. I warn all people i give cd's to and most of them ask for them without labels. I just use the permanent marker on the cd's.

You'll be better off with SureThing CD Labeler. Stomper is the older version of SureThing. If memory serves me faithfully, Stomper even installs on the system as SureThing but you won't be able to upgrade to the latest SureThing version. SureThing also handles/-supports label/-paper alignment/-stock better than Stomper. (That's suppose to read, "handles label alignment and supports paper stock..")

Having tried both these, HP labeler software, and two others, which I can't recall the name of now, (one was from Graphic Corps' I think..) Surething is the one I currently use. And like Vfrxsw, I still use Adaptec's Jewel case creator.

It can be found online and in stores but I doubt that it can be bought for as inexpensive as SocalGal found Stomper.

I can say that Avery CDR disk lables come off! A total waste of money IMHO.

I now use a CD speed marker.

Thanks for the further info, guys.

Well, I'll be using the Stomper since the UPC/PoP labels are already cut off the box for rebate purposes, and, I'll make sure I keep the CDs out of the player - a good habit to get into anyway, I suppose.

Thanks again. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

socalgal, I've been using CD Stomper for almost two years and haven't had one fall off yet. The key is in the initial setting of the label. Make sure you rub it all to get the air out (if you start at one end and rub it as it's laying down it works great). I've had a cd in my changer in the car for over a year and it's still intact. And I have to agree with jad1097 that Avery stickers don't stick!
