3dfx V5 bad?

Ok, i have a voodoo5 agp and the resolution wont go past 640x480. Now for the kicker, i can adjust the color depth between 8, 16, and 32 bit just fine. I just can chance the resolution. I have both drivers from the 3dfx site. the certified ones and the beta ones. I have tried it in two different puters. The first one i had it in when i noticed the problem was a
PIII 733
256 RAM
20 gig
Asus cuv4x with via 4.34
At first i had a problem with the cpu overheating (170 degreed F)


The second puter i tested it in was a
Celery 850
512 RAM
20gig
Asus CUBX (440bx)

I have the sme problem in both computers which are both runnig win98. Any suggestions? I think the card is bad.

What do you have listed as monitor in device manager, not DEFAULT MONITOR I hope ?

Yeah, with the VooDoos you have to have a monitor type selected or all they will display is the bare minimum. as said above...not default monitor.
