Slaughter,
I have not been overclocking but for a couple moths but everything i know i have gotten from sysopt. Their great. It all depends if you wanna go 100 mhz or 350, and on an amd you need alot of cooling.
An AMD you can either adjust the bus-speed through your BIOS or connect the bridges in order to adjust the multipler. Be WARNED, doing wither you take a giant risk in frying your system especially the last one. Look around sysopt and sites like overclockerz.com for how to do this.
My current system is:
Celeron II 700 o/c@ 1076 ghz w/ 102 bus (low, but better than 66)
Vantec 7200 rpm w/ large aluminm heat sink
Elsa Ge-force2 MX400
SeaGate 20 gig Hd
512 pc-133 sd-ram

i was suceeding overclocked my 1.4 ghz athlon to 1.507ghz
what i did is to increase fsb & multiplier in Cmos setup. it resulted well without instability.

Make certain you have a thin layer of thermal grease between the cpu & heatsink and enough cool air flowing through your case, my cpu temp dropped 10 degrees celsius with the addition of a rear case fan alone. If you have the space then mount a fan as low as possible on the front of the case and as high as possible on the rear of the case. Start noting the cpu and motherboard temps at standard speeds before overclocking.
Take your time and benchmark after each and every change. Use your pc as you usually would for a while between changing settings. Its easy to forget about testing that things like usb controllers work at a given fsb speed.
I would also suggest trying to run your ram at cas 2 latency (if you havent already done that) as this should give a noticeable performance increase.
I have my system running stable at 1.55ghz (148x10.5 with cas 2 ram latency). Im hoping to get to 1.7+ with the cpu unlocked and a bigger heatsink & fan.
At the moment my system is:
Athlon 1.4@1.55
Asus A7V266
512MB Kingmax PC2100 DDR
Geforce 2 MX400 64MB
