He liked mine so much that he got one for himself! Wiruz 09-25-2000, 02:06 PM I've just tried the mouse briefly, but my first impression was a good one. It had a certain feel to it, and the red light was neat! I think it is the only mouse which i would describe as being cool! Just last night i cleaned my logitec-ergo+-mouseman-something-thumbbutton mouse, which is a really irritating thing, 'cause they always clutter up at the wrong time (in games...) The next mouse i buy, will be one of those. ~Wiruz (Hypnotized by the red light) jpeppers 09-25-2000, 02:18 PM Is the Explorer the better one? What is the difference between that and the other one? daveleau 09-25-2000, 02:20 PM I am using both the Intellimopuse Explorer and the Rozor Boomslang 2K gaming mouse and I can't decide which I like more. They are both accurate and easily the best mice I have ever used. Dave Albert 09-25-2000, 03:21 PM In the beginning, it was a wierd feeling to use a mouse without a ball. You get use to it quick. As stated, no more mouse cleaning. jpeppers 09-25-2000, 03:46 PM Just bought one! Hope its better than the trackball. Rat 09-25-2000, 05:04 PM I have an Intellimouse w/whell. The wheel sucks on it, it is so stiff that sometimes I have to put so much pressure on it to spin it, I wind up activating the buttton. I've disabled the button because of this. Rat... Solidus 09-25-2000, 05:27 PM I prefer the Logitech mouseman optical. NDC 09-25-2000, 08:25 PM Oh yeah, I definetly like my Optical Mouse (Cyber Beetle)!! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif I was getting sick of replacing my mouse just about everyother other month because it worked liked **** even after cleaning the rollers and ball in the mouse. I've been using my optical mouse for about 7 months now, and it still works good like the first day I bought it. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif Ruahrc 09-25-2000, 08:33 PM This is personal opinion but: I like Logitech's Mouseman Wheel Optical. I bought my dad the Standard Intellimouse w/Intelleye and liked the optical ability. I tried to find another for myself, but couldn't. I saw that the logitech mouse (which I had a preference for but was too expensive) was on sale so I bought it. I love it. The optical function is great, and the thumb button is placed in a position where it doesn't get accidentally clicked but is very easy to click when you want to. I tried the Intellimouse Explorer in the store, and the thumb/pinky buttons are right where you rest your hand, so a little to much pressure to either will activate the button. The Intellimouse Optical doesn't seem to be as bad, but it still suffered the same problem. Just my $0.02. Ruahrc P.S. I don't know how many of you do this: but I disregard the marketing sale point that the optical mouse works on any surface. Sure it does, but I still keep it on my mousepad because I don't want to scratch up the bottom of my mouse! Anyone else do this? My dad has a towel for a mousepad, it is pretty nice too, soft. Target 09-25-2000, 09:16 PM You've already gotten quite a few responses, so I'll be brief. Had some of same issues already stated with the Explorer that others did (buttons), and agree that the Logitech offering is also really good. However, I have to say that the $29 I gave for my MS Optical mouse (regular kidney-bean shaped wheel mouse) was the "best bang for the buck" I have had in a while when purchasing puter hardware. [OMG.....did I JUST say that about a MS product??? Time to head to the confessional] jpeppers 09-26-2000, 12:15 AM Has anybody used the optical mouse by Microsoft? If so, is it worth the money. I bought the trackball and it is **** and the Wheelmouse is kind of a pain. Both skip from time to time. I was hoping with the Optical mouse, you don't have to worry about skipping or dirty rollers on the inside of the mouse that has to be cleaned. Warthog 09-26-2000, 12:52 AM I have the Intellimouse Explorer. It is sooooooo nice to not have to clean the ball or replace mouse pads all of the time. I don't die in games anymore because of dirty rollers. I have not noticed the cursor skipping when the mouse moves fast either, contrary to certain reviews. The only case where it might skip, is when you have the sensitivity set to reeeaaalllly slow and procede to move the mouse reeeeeeeaaally fast. I don't have the problem because I have it set to the fastest setting with High acceleration http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif. Warthog awwall 09-26-2000, 01:41 PM had mine since last xmas. Love it. aw Warthog 09-27-2000, 12:46 AM I also use a mouse pad for same reason. But I won't ever have to go buy a new one if this one starts to fray, etc. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif Warthog Wilan Wong 09-27-2000, 05:21 AM I think the Intellimouse Explorer would be better... well.. i don't really like it 'cause of the size?? pretty big dun ya think so? The "size" makes it a bit uncomfortable when you use the mouse a lot such as 3d games.. well unless you have pretty big hands of course! canit 09-27-2000, 04:08 PM Anyone tried Dexxa's optical mouse? AuraEdge 09-27-2000, 05:23 PM Im a righty, and Ive used The MS optical. The only real difference I see between the Optical and explorer is that one of the side buttons is on the other side, and about 10-20 bucks. I only use the left side button, and I use it to double click. The right one is never used. I had a logitech Mouseman wheel..the oldschool one with the funky shape. I really didnt like the roller too much on that...I preferred the one on my Intellimouse much much more. Also alota my friends kept hitting the thumb button by mistake on the Mouseman, because it was on the bottom. Also, if I got really bored one day and played Halflife all day long, I would notice that my ring and pinky finger started hurting a bit. The Optical is awesome, precise as anything, due to the no gunk. In fact, I broke one because I had the wire it wrapped a bit to tightly around my desklamp by mistake, and the wire got loose after many a frag. Guess what I replaced it with? Yep..another Optical. Also, the roller is great...no complaints here...and no hand fatigue at all SysOpt.com
