My graphics card died so I purchase a new one thinking i was going to sell the computer I purchased a cheap one (Stealth II s220 4mb) The computer is running slower I dont know if its the card or Maybe cause I put lots of stuff on the computer to try it out, But then I get rid of it. I have Defraged the computer and it still does not help. How can you tell what all of the files are that starup in your computer when you press Ctrl Alt Delete? This computer is definitely slower Help pleas?

The graphics cards should not slow down the system. If you run a very hi res with 32 bit color depth it may slow a little but I doubt a "cheaper" card would do the better resolutions anyway.
Most likely, when you installed lots of stuff you installed something that didn't get uninstalled and is running in the background hogging CPU time. I don't recall a list of items that must remain running offhand. Explorer is one. There should be one or two others, the rest are frivolous (to the OS).
Thanks Bill,
I do run 32 bit color I also just purchased a 19 and 17 inch monitor.
How can you turn off the itmes in start up or the ctrl Alt Delet box?

Get the newest drivers for that Stealth II at www.diamondmm.com/products/drivers/stealth2-s220.html (http://www.diamondmm.com/products/drivers/stealth2-s220.html) , immediately. The factory drivers for that card are absolutely awful. That card isn't the most stable S3 card that Diamond ever produced anyway, but the cd drivers are just atrocious.
The only file REQUIRED by W9X that will appear in the End Task box is Explorer. Systray is one that should be running but isn't required. a Bill is correct in that regard. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
For 32 bit color, open Control Panel>Display>Settings Tab>Colors
For startup info, run "msconfig" if you have W98 to easily change or inspect your startup configs.
