Have this laptop i'd like to use. Formatted the harddrive, installed DOS 6.22, and i got this error. So i replaced the memory, and im still getting the same error. Is there a command im missing?

error: himem.sys has detected unreliable XMS memory at address 00800024h. XMS driver not installed

IBM Thinkpad 365XD
Dos 6.22
40M ram

When i run the memory test in the BIOS, i get the error DEV002 ERR21 FRU0020

config.sys
DEVICE=C:\DOS\SETVER
DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS
DOS=HIGH
FILES=30

Autoexec.bat
C:\DOS\SMARTDRV.EXE /X
@ECHO OFF
PROMPT $P$G
PATH C:\DOS
SET TEMP=C:\DOS

Thank you very much for your time.

Sounds like you have a memory controller/motherboard problem with that laptop.

heres another mystery for you...

It works error free if i keep the keyboard open. If i operate it with the keyboard closed, i get the errors again.

very frustrating..

Ok . . then I would think you have a short somewhere, or a heat problem.
