Hello all. This is my first post.

I want to upgrade my CPU without having to do a major upgrade. I have an Abit BH-6 MB, and unfortunately its the earlier version which can only go up to PIII 600. Presently, I have a PIII 450.

I've heard lots of talk about slot 1 converters but can't seem to find any specs or technical documentation. If I want to go to a 100 mhz PIII 800, is there anything else I need to do to my BIOS to accomplish this? Is this upgrade as simple as getting the CPU and slot 1 converter? Or am I SOL?

Pardon me for my ignorance, and TIA.

I know the late version works with a Coppermine and adapter, but I used a Celeron2 on a slot adapter with an early BH6...ran it at 850/100 ( it was a 566 C2 ).

I would think the adapter Coppermine would work. Heck, I used a coppermine in an adapter slot on a Shuttle HOT 631 "LX" motherboard...so you never know until you try it.

If you're going to go with a slot converter, stick with brand name like Asus, Abit, MSI. The generic one's cause your system to hang a lot. Well that has been my experience.

I'd check to make sure you have the latest bios for that board. Also, if it will go down to 1.65 volts for the processor, you should be ok.
