Hiya, wondered if anyone could help me with my college work.
Im trying to design a machine to seperate 1p and 2p (p=pence)coins. Eg like the type of thing in a vending machine etc.
Any ideas guys - it would be greatly appreciated :D
Cheers,

You could have a sieve like device with holes just big enough to let 1p's through, and keep the 2p's in the seive. You could have a mechanism to jiggle it about, then drop the 2p's into annother container(by tiling or something), before more mixed coins are dropped into the seive. Or a magnet that was strong enough to lift 1p's, but not 2p's.

Don't know about in the UK, but sorters are readily available here at office supply stores and some dept stores. I'd suggest going to one & studying the design.
Why reinvent the wheel?

OH, BTW - you're really doing the opposite of what happens in a vending machine. There, the coins enter sorted but fall into one common container.;)

I'm not familiar with your currency but if one is affected by a magnet and the other is not ...that would make a very reliable sorter (not prone to jamming)
