modem error in control panel will not initialize ATI 4,5,6,7... can anyone help solve my modem problem.

What kind of modem are we dealing with here? Additional system info would help out alot. Have you checked the device manager and looked at the modem to see if there is an exclamation mark or stop sign by the modem? If there is then the modem definately needs to be reinstalled. Check to see if there are any conflicts with any other device in the computer?
Are you able to use hyperterminal to dial out with the modem at all?

Make sure you have the drivers for your modem then......

I would start by removing the modem from the operating system and then letting windows redetect it. If it does not redetect then manually install.
