This is a tweak I tried that I found at the HardOCP site. Tells you what steppings your CPU is:

Hey, That's pretty cool, Daveleau. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
But I noticed that NT4 already shows the stepping for Intel CPU's by default.
I noticed that there are two kinds of steppings for Intel P3 650Mhz FSB-100, they are cB0 and cA2. How can I tell which one it is? The processor on the system is P3 650Mhz FSB-100 Slot 1 CPU.
Is cB0 better than cA2 or vice-versa???

NDC, For the most part the cBo chips are the more desirable due to the fact of them being the SMP enabled coppermine cpu's
How can I identify which one I have? If they are not cA2, will they not be supported as dual CPU's in NT4 or 2000?
There are a couple dual P3 650 FSB-100 systems at work and would like to know if they are cb0 or cA2. Thanks.

http://www.powerleap.com/Neo-S370/dual.htm looks like your 650's are SMP enabled http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif My bad..Only the first of the CA2 Coppermines were not smp enabled

The stepping referrs to subtle changes in the CPU core that have been made for whatever reason the CPU manufacturer deems necessary.
If you're setting up a dual CPU system, it's advisable to get two CPUs with the same S-Spec and stepping.
Having said that, there's a picture of a P3 450 running alongside a celery 300->450 on this site:

That little trick works with AMDs tooooo! Just drop the space between GenuineAMD!
