When you have central air and set it for fan only, is it pulling air in from outside? Or just recirculating the inside air?

Just recirculating the air.... from the normal return out through the vents.

Get some a/c filters that stop mold spores etc.

These are dense white filters and cost up to $10 each.

Your a/c unit there should be a "Water Evaporator" system correct ?

If so, then I'd check with several sources to be sure that Legionaires disease or Pontiac Fever doesn't grow in it..

Your a/c unit there should be a "Water Evaporator" system correct .......... You don't mean swamp cooler do you? It's just a regular central air conditioner, like they use in GA:D

If you have a forced air system, then you are recirculating indoor air. I leave my fan on all the time, to help filter the air more completely. It's harder on the blower motor and tough on the electric bill, but cuts down on dust accumulation and allergy symptoms. You must also be vigilant to change your air filter at least once a month. Purchase the expensive disposable air filters, not the electrostatic ones or the cheap fiberglass ones.

As for Legionnaires or Pontiac Fever, your best bet is to have your duct work cleaned out and disinfected every 2 or 3 years. This will keep the air conditioning condensor unit inside clean and germ free. Don't forget to keep the outdoor A/C coil free from debris, too, to keep the A/C running at peak efficiency. This can usually be accomplished with a vacuum and a soft brush.

You folks in Utah can't take the heat, can you?!? 81 degrees is hardly A/C weather here in Minnesota!!
