Hey Folks,
I am in the process of unpgrading to a 1.4 Tbird but as of yet i don't know what mobo to get, I'm on a strict budget and with this in mind i found the ELITE K7AMA, DDR+SDRAM SKT A board, i was just wondering if n e one has n e experience of this board and could give me some advice as to whether it's worth getting. It uses thwe Ali chipset and i was also wondering how good that is.
I f this board is a dud i would appreciate n e one giving me any tips as to what board i should go for.
Thanks Random Gimp 47

You might want to go with the K7S5A if your budget it tight($60). It is a fast board. I had it for about a month, but I got tired of the compatibility issues I had. Then again, I didnt have a quality power supply either. Alot of people have had this board have experienced problems that were cleared up by a good power supply. If you want to avoid all that, then go for an ABIT KG7 Lite. I am using it, and have had no problems. It runs about $117...or even go for the Epox 8K7A....about $107. AliMagik has too many problems which you dont want to have to deal with...trust me.

I can only say that the KG7 from Abit is good, very good... I experimented with the KG7 RAID at one point, and it was interesting... I ran my Athlon 1GHz (100MHz FSB) at 1.33 GHz without changing voltage... now if that isn't stability... (Okay, maybe AMD is to thank for it too)...
Anyhoo, http://www.tomshardware.com has a good roundup on 266FSB mobos as well, might want to look at that...
Cheers!

Ohhh, and I agree, no Ali MaGiK 1, please... Try the Sis 735 if you can find it, or even the KT266A (probably have to wait a little for that one though)... or even AMD 761... the KT266 is not a BAD chipset, but there is definitely better...
