That aint good. Now if only somebody could RAM me with their car I'd appreciate it http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif BTW CODY, I got your modem sent back your way on Friday. Sorry to have wasted your time and effort for a good cause. Thx. Plucky OR as Cody calls me - The Duckman http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif plucky duck 09-24-2000, 12:46 AM I have 256mb PC133 RAM in the box. Had played with the various sizes with regards to virtual memory and AGP texture memory, but whenever I try to load NFS Porsche or N64 UltraHle emulation Win2k goes and gives my hard drive a good grinding http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif Is 256megs not good enough or is there a setting I should know about? I can't even finish loading either programs without Win2K popping me a message telling me virtual memory is set too small. Argh. *mumbling* Please give the duck a hand, thx. Plucky cyclone2 09-24-2000, 12:56 AM I have not used 2000 much for games but one thing I found with a demo of No One Lives Forever was with ME I could run 1064x768 but 2k the best I could do to maintain same framerates was 640x480 http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif Looks like I could use an extra 64 megs! i have 128 As for yours what is your swap file set for and on what partition is it on? NDC 09-24-2000, 07:27 AM Yeah, Win2K seems to load as much of the system files into RAM to give it a speed boost. Memory hog or not, I think the speed on Win2K just blows the socks of Win9X with the same system configuration and very stable. But strangely, I noticed that NT4 was quicker in Photoshop tasking and other graphic applications than Win2K. Anyone know why? SysOpt.com
