my motherboard has just died on me
it could not detect any drives at all...
both my harddrives.. cdrw, cd-rom.. the floppy is able to run but when i try to boot the system a windows boot up disk funny symbols come up and the system just stalls
i am sure the cables and the drives are working..
the system is able to boot up and i can enter the bios
but the bios can't detect the drives
i am using an ABIT KA7 mobo with 700mhz amd athlon
anyone can figure out why i can't detect any drives ?
thanks !

Two possible reasons:

1. The cables connecting you cdroms and HDD to the motherboard are bad(Which could be the problem)

2. Didnt enable IDE device ports on mobo thru the BIOS. If the BIOS doesnt see it, the board, nor the operating system will see them either.

reset the bios to defaults, and make sure the HD settings are on auto.
Good luck
