Wazzup dude's ?!
I'm considering a athlon 1.2 Ghz CPU, since I've heard that 1.4's have some heat-issues, and I really don't wan't to build a case with trbo-fan's in it. I like my puter's quiet.
The thing is, I have zero experience on athlon mobo's, so I'd like some advice from You, I'm looking for a good/decent, AFFORDABLE mobo for athlon, maybe some room for CPU upgrade later, don't wan't / need any RAID, but a lot of mem-slot's would be nice.
Any thought's, and pleas also say why ?

You might want to try buying this mobo online... it is way easier or you can find the board of choice possibly at this address...
www.sky-pro.net .... they have some decent prices and decent selection at thier online store..

you can check out the offering of ECS with the SIS chipset. it uses ddr ram and puportedly runs about as fast as kt266 chipsets yet much cheaper. i'm also considering this as well as a 1.2 gig athlon so if anyone else more knowledgeable or experienced than i in this aspect can place thier comments.

I Highly recomend the Epox 8K7A+, its not to expensive, ( $139 or so) and it is easy to use, stable and fast, it does also have the raid ports so thats a bonus. You may want to look at the boards with the new KT266a such as the epox 8KHA+, there getting great reviews, i have yet to get one but will be soon.
Also for the money a 1.4 is a much better deal, i have 3 of them and never ever have had a heat problem. As long as u have a proper HSF you will be fine, wich is the case for any processor.

I would also recommend an Epox board. You can get one without the raid cheaper. Maybe about $100.

Before ya buy review (VR-ZONE, among other) Leadtek Winfast 7350. Multipliers, ami bios, dividers, 333 ddr memory, NO VIA, what more could an NFArce waiting clocker wish for?
Believe I'm going that direction, will post experiences from the edge of overclocking abyss...

If you want great stability, low price, decent speed, and easy overclocking features, try an IWILL KK-266+. I run my T'bird 1200 C @ 11X133= 1463MHz, no heat problems.
If you must have DDR memory, the VIA 266A chipset seems the way to go. I've heard nothing but good things about the Epox board
