What os are you using? qball 09-20-2000, 10:58 AM Go to Start, Run, type in 'msconfig'. Or is it Start, Program, Accessories, System Properties...? Anyway, try both, as I am on NT box. One of them will have a tabbed dialog box. Choose the startup tab and click or unclick the 'Run Scandisk at startup' option. This will stop scandisk from ever running at startup. cyclone2 09-20-2000, 11:43 AM Yeh. its msconfig then click the advanced box and Stop Scandisk from running after bad shutdown bluewest11 09-20-2000, 02:33 PM Sorry I'm late getting back to you guys. I was not aware my thread had been moved to this location. Thanks for the advice on this matter and I will configure the system so scandisk cannot run at start up. I will however try to find out what is making scandisk run at startup before I disable it. The OS is win 98 (1st) and by boot up, I mean when the computer first starts up. Thanks again all. Eli 09-20-2000, 02:55 PM Does it run scandisk before it gets to the desktop (ie. the blue screened dos version) or after it gets into Windows? bluewest11 09-23-2000, 01:10 AM Scan disk runs before the computer gets into windows just after booting up (dos).
