Hi All
I have installed IE6 over my 5.5 version, and I think it
rocks my pages load quicker etc and OE6 is certainly
faster.
However, I now have an irritating "problem". When I start
up the PC it goes into DOS regsitry checker and "finds a
good copy". If I simply "Restart" the PC there is no such
problem. This is a repeatable thing, restart is OK but
start after shutdown triggers the reg checker??
Anyone else have this issue and can offer a "cure", I suspect a corruption in the registry during shutdown but how do I sort it out?
Many thanks.

You could try to go back to the previous version of I.E. by using the I.E. 5 Repair Tool.
Check it out here: ie5repair.beemerworld.com (http://ie5repair.beemerworld.com)
Try to repair it first. If that doesn't work, go back to the previous version. Then go back to Windows Update and download and install it again.
Cheers!

Thanks Beemer
But "seems" like the PC knew I was talking about it - trouble just went away.
But???
I have found that Windows Explorer has been changed so that I no longer get the two pane view. The left hand pane is like a blank history list but grey with the close X button.
So, I think I will revert my system back to v 5.5 and install the SP2 update to protect myself from the MIME "attack" security hole.
Unless of course I can sort out the Explorer panes problem?
Thanks again. :)

When Windows Explorer is open did you check View/Explorer Bar?
Maybe the Folders option got unchecked during the upgrade.
Just a thought.

Hi Rampage
Yes, tried to "set" the folders view but no good just got the grey panel.
On a related point, I have access to a leased line at my office and was going to download the SP2 pack for v5.5 nad burn a CD but Microsoft trying to be helpfull (lol) has made the download a setup exe for grabbing the appropriate components over a modem line - which is what I use at home.
I cannot find the full download anywhere!!!!

Hi All
I have found a full download and guess where- when you run the downloaded setup there is an advanced option to download the full set. If only the info was there to start with but I suppose this is par for the course for Microsoft.
