Just bought a 468 fan to put on the heatsink of my video card. The fan is really loud. Like a little airplane...should it be that loud????

that thing is lame, it is loud for most, like a jet engine? My 120mm is not quite that loud, so I guess you are exagurating a bit. Are all of your slots closed (with those protectors)? If not, close them up, it improves air flow anyways.

I would take it back. unless you all ready modified it or something. Then go somewhere else to get a fan.

I have gone through 586 heat sync/fans like crazy, because they would make loud noises after a month. Until I found one shop in town whos fans didn't have this problem. Never got a bad fan from them since.

If you can't return the fan for a quieter one you could always go to Radio Shack and pick up a cheap variable 10k risistor and solder it in series with one of the fan leads, this way you could control the fan speed and therefore control the noise.

When I say that it is lame, I mean that Radio Shak fans are rarely good quality, and very pricey.

The Radioshack Blower is a great fan from them http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif, but not really a fan..., 2600 RPM (Seems a bit low..), I had to modify it to install , but it lets me run my k6-2 300 at 428 (95x4.5)
